Enroll and Set up MFA/2FA - iOS

Follow the instructions listed on your computer and phone.  If you need detailed step-by-step instructions, continue with the steps below.

There are four things that you need to do:

  1. Enroll in two-factor authentication.
  2. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app.
  3. Configure the Microsoft Authenticator app.
  4. Configure the phone authentication method.

 

 

Step 1: Enroll in two-factor authentication

  1. Enter your email address. (username@palmbeachstate.edu) or (username@my.palmbeachstate.edu)
  2.  Note: If you have multiple Microsoft accounts ( for ext. at other schools) you may need to completely sign out of your account in order to sign into your Palm Beach State Microsoft Account.
  3. Click on Next.

  1. You will be redirected to the Palm Beach State sign on page.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Click on Sign in.

Step 2: Download and Get Authenticator app from the App Store.

  1. From the App Store, type in Microsoft Authenticator and click on Get, download and install the app.

  1. On your PC screen, click on Next.

Step 3: Configure the Microsoft Authenticator app.

  1. On the Microsoft Authenticator app, select Work or School account.

  1. Click on OK to allow Authenticator to access the Camera.

  1. Click on Next on the PC screen.

  1. Scan the QR Code on the PC screen using Microsoft Authenticator after accessing your Camera.
  2. Click Next.

  1. A 6- Digit code will be generated by the Microsoft Authenticator app.

  1. Enter the 6- Digit code on your PC under Enter Code.

  1. You will be prompted to approve the notification sent to your phone. This is only to test that you are able to receive notifications.

  1. Click on Approve on your phone.

  1. You will receive the message "Notification approved" on your PC screen.
  2. Click on Next.

Step 4: Configure Phone authentication.

  1. Enter your phone number.

  1. You will receive an automated phone call from Microsoft.
  2. Press on the # Key to authenticate after following the instructions.

  1. Click on Next after the call is answered.

  1. Both phone and app authentication methods will be checked once they are set up successfully.

  1. Click on Done.

 

Note: If the Mail app on your mobile does not support MFA/2FA, it is recommended to use the Microsoft Outlook app to access your PBSC email.
