Pinning Applications To The Start Menu or Task Bar

By group policy for college computers, pinning applications to the Start Menu and Task Bar permanently is not possible in Windows 7 & 8. After restarting a computer or relogging into the computer the pinned application will revert back. Alternatively, in Windows 7 you can enable the Favorites feature for the Start Menu. In Windows 10 pinning software to the start menu and task bar permanently is possible.

To pin in Windows 10:

  1. From the Start Menu, right-click on the application you would like to pin.
  2. Select Pin to Start to pin to the start menu, or select Pin to taskbar to pin to the task bar.
