How will different groups of employees - hourly, salary - be paid in Workday?

  • Hourly employees, including OPS, will be paid biweekly, which means these employees will receive 26 paychecks each year beginning January 12, 2018. Prior to this, hourly employees were paid twice per month (24 paychecks). This will affect deductions and gross pay. Remember too that each year the tax withholding tables are changed by the federal government.

  • Exempt non-hourly employees will be paid semimonthly. This mean these employees will receive 24 paychecks a year, as was the practice in PantherNet. Paychecks may vary from what was calculated in PantherNet due to changes in insurance deduction amounts and federal withholding tables.

  • 168 day Faculty who have elected to be paid over 9 months (September– May) will receive 18 paychecks over that time. If these faculty are eligible for department chair pay, or pay for overload classes, that pay will be on your paycheck at the end of January (as was our practice in PantherNet). Paychecks may vary from what you saw in PantherNet due to changes in insurance deduction amounts and federal withholding tables.

  • Other 168 day faculty, and other types of faculty including librarians and counselors, will be paid semimonthly,  meaning 24 paychecks a year, which is the same way they were paid in PantherNet.  If these employees are eligible for department chair pay, or pay for overload classes, that pay will be on the paycheck at the end of January (as was our practice in PantherNet) due to Spring Drop and Add. Paychecks may vary from what you saw in PantherNet due to changes in insurance deduction amounts and federal withholding tables.

  • Adjunct professors teaching credit classes under a salary basis will be paid at the end of January as their first paycheck of the semester. The lag is due to the fact that Drop and Add for the 16 week Spring Semester term will not have completed and some classes may still be subject to cancellation. This is the same process as PantherNet.

  • Adjunct professors who teach in hourly positions, such as (but not limited to) Nursing and Public Safety, will be paid for any hours that were reported for these employees during each biweekly payroll period. Paychecks may vary from was calculated in PantherNet due to changes in deduction amounts and federal withholding tables.
